Well I hope you don't think I was here defending Metallica, who are OK but do an equally terrible version of this song. This song sucks and no one could make it good. The only people that like Bob Seger are old white guys trying to hold on to something they never had in the first place. Just kind of cuts through you doesn't it?

Having lived this song, I can truly say that Bob Seger captured what it's really like to be on the road. Have loved this song and Seger's music since first hearing this on "Live Bullet." His voice, Alto's tone and the band's control underneath the pathos all contribute to this being a classic. It's easy to see why Metallica covered it, why it's still a bar juke box favorite and why we look forward to Bob performing it in concert. BTW Seger & the Silver Bullet Band rock in concert. See them!

What do you guys think- metallica or bob seger? whos version is better? i think bob segers is better because its meant to be a ballad not a heavy rock song.

oy...yakk-slapper...i agree with you when ppl mistake rock and heavy metal, but one thing is to point out those mistakes, a different thing is to insult ppl's taste. if you don't like metallica, that doesn't give you the right to talk crap about them. you're in your right to insult the idiots that take rock and heavy metal as the same gender, but you shouldn't insult the bands
