10 yrs after their helicon days,
and this was a very long day,
BUT
Phil Collins IS lost,
and really had no connection to this band.
And it shows.
As bad as Phil is here,
he really screws up Clapton in Philly,
later.
This was a great day however,
certainly nothing like it since,
whereas NOW
musicians can't play their instruments
and the public buys lip-syncs,
and there is no beat.
Now that is a sad ugly truth.

Page maybe be one of the technically gifted players but his playing is overdriven. One story emphasizes that: Page guest recording with the Stones in 1983. He developed complex chord progressions for the song Dirty Work. It didn't fit. Keith went into a room, after half an hour he came out with the Song and everybody loved it. That is the difference - Keef has much more rhythm and rhythm is rock roll. |
